Luis Barragán (1947-48)
Luis Barragán became a master in the composition of space, and the use of light and colour. Walls, floors, ceilings, stairs and windows are not just functional elements within his designs but also components in a sculptural composition.
Barragán’s own house in Mexico City is a prime example of space, light, volume, colour, texture and materials that, together with clever variations on window frames, shading devices and the placement of furniture and artworks, all combine to create a heightened living experience.
